Two New Christmas Cards- Studio Calico WCMD

3 Oct

Hey everyone! It’s been awhile! Busy packing and getting ready for our trip which is…drumroll please….8 days away! I cant wait, I’m so excited! In the meantime…I’ve been working, and trying to fill my time with scrapping, scrap shopping and every possible fall activity I can think of. This past Saturday was World Card Making Day and over at Studio Calico, they had 4 different challenges. I participated in two of them. The first was to create a card based on this sketch:

This is my take:

And a close up of some details:

The other two challenges were use kit leftovers & utilize SC stamps. I didnt get to do either of those. But I did make another Xmas card for the fourth category which simply was “Make a Card!” My card utilizes a lot of The Girl’s Paperie and Tim Holtz. Some of the new Hero Arts christmas clear stamps are used too! I love the way it turned out!! I tried to base it on that same sketch just to challenge myself to think outside the box a little bit!

This is my take on that:

Thats all for now. We just got back from picking apples at the Orchard and I am beyond tired. Nap time maybe before some more Sunday night crafting :) Have a good one!

A Travelogue…Or At Least the Start of One…!

11 Sep

Hey everyone. Yes, I am writing this at 4 am from work…when I should in fact be, let’s face it…working. But, I’ve finally gotten everyone to sleep and I have a few minutes to just…*ahhh* relax. The last couple of days I’ve been focusing the majority of my scrappy efforts on a travelogue that I plan on taking with me when we go on our trip to Europe next month (1 MONTH from today! How exciting!)

I have a love affair with the “Documentary” collection by Studio Calico and I’ve been hoarding it for this project. In faaacct…I saw that stopandscrap.com had their Documentary line on clearance…so I may or may not have purchased 2 more! :) Here are some pics of what I have done thus far:

Anyway, back to work.  Talk to you all verrry soon!

So Many Things…

9 Sep

Shocking, I’ve been horrible at posting! Haha. Life has been crazy hectic and we’re spending a lot of time getting ready for our trip. I’ve been working on a few cards….like, THIS halloween card that you can watch here:

Also, I’ve just finished my canvas mini album, which you can watch…here:

I’ll put up some pics of it all tomorrow so you can see everything in a little greater detail :) Off to work on my travelogue mini album! Ahhh…it makes me want to squeal everytime I think about it! I LOVE travel!

A New Card…

28 Jul

…for my grandma! She recently had surgery…and always “expects” cards from me, so I had to get this one done quickly. Not my BEST work, but a cute card nonetheless! Haha! I recently got the “What’s Cooking?” set by Hero Arts and wanted to break it out. I was inspired by a video that Kristina Werner did about a year ago using this set, and I’ve been wanting to make my own version of it. I used one of the Maya Road kraft wavy edge envelopes, so the card measured 4.5×4.5 to fit in the 5×5 envelope. The papers are from Basic Grey’s “Nook & Pantry” 6×6 deck of papers. (I felt like the kitchen theme of both the stamps & paper worked well together!) I used papertrey’s card in the dark brown shade for this card. I love the quality of the cardstock, but I have to say, that even after I scored the paper, it still cracked a bit at the fold? I must have folded against the grain, because everyone always raves about this paper for cardmaking…so I’m going to go with “Operator Error” on this one. What else is new, right? ;)

Thanks for stopping by :)

Can I Just Say…

I’m so excited…

27 Jul

Yes, Wednesday IS A Strange Night…

26 Jul

…for a date! After recently moving a week ago, John and I decided to take a much deserved night off for some delicious Italian food. We went to “Maggiano’s,” which, although it’s a chain, it’s amazingly…well, AMAZING. For those inquiring minds, I had lobster fettuccine and John had sausage ziti…crazy lives we live, right?

All in all, it was a great night. Just what we needed…time ALONE. :) Anywho, this blog is supposed to be a crafty outlet, so I’ll get to posting some scrappy pics soon. Oh and GUESS WHAT?! I signed up for a sewing class @ one of the adorable little sewing shops in our new hometown. It’s “Beginner Sewing” which is definitely what I need (although I wish there was a beginner BEGINNER sewing class! haha!) I’ll keep you posted on my progress, which I’m certain will be limited and minor league at best! And I’m debating taking Kelly Purkey’s sketch class, because Lord knows I need ALL the help I can get when it comes to some fresh and exciting LO’s.

Oh and before I forget, CHA this weekend! I cant believe it’s already here. I’m so excited, yet so, so intimidated because I’ve never been to a scrapbook expo, particularly not one this large and exciting either! Can’t wait to post pics and videos from the convention…I’m sure it will be GLORIOUS!

In the meantime, I leave you with a link to my favorite scrap company as of late, Studio Calico. Tell me this LO isn’t to DIE FOR?!

Gorgeous! Needless to say, I’m sure I’ll be scraplifting this soon at some point!

Ciao -Nicole
